Landmannalaugar Hike Great experience overall! Beautiful views, amazing hiking through the mountain and relaxing hot springs at the end. We couldn't ask for a better guide/driver: Tomas, our guide was knowledgeable and proffesional. We would recommend this experience 100%!

Excellent Tour with a Challenging but Rewarding Hike Overall, this was an excellent value and experience, albeit a challenging hike that is not for beginners or those who are out of shape. Our guide was chatty, fun, and clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. There was a medical emergency during the tour, and our guide handled it calmly while keeping the group together and organized. We were taken back to our bus and given the option to extend the tour by about 30 minutes to an hour to visit another waterfall. We really appreciated this. The hike itself to the glacier is moderate to hard. As a long distance runner, I found myself out of breath at a few points. There are several very steep and slippery paths up and down the mountain to the glacier. The glacier itself is an easy to moderate hike due to the icy conditions and crampons. None of this took away from the 5 stars I am leaving. I would absolutely take this tour and/or book with this company again!

Such great people! Thank you for all your help. (Friday, August 14) We booked the Glacier Hike, South Coast Waterfalls & Black Sand Beach tour with Glaciers and Waterfalls, and I already left a review for that tour and Lorenzo the guide. This is a review of Glaciers and Waterfalls the company itself. I just needed to send out some major thanks to Glaciers and Waterfalls. After the tour, my youngest son accidentally left his precious ball cap on Lorenzo’s bus. I emailed the company right away. It was late on a Friday and I wasn’t expecting to hear back. I certainly wasn’t expecting anyone to actually have the hat. But not only did I receive an email back, they said Lorenzo had found the hat and left it with their central office. Over the next day or so, one of the managers - Jose, I believe - called and texted and coordinated with me for how to pick up the hat. We didn’t have a vehicle to drive over, so Jose scheduled one of this tour drivers, I think his name was Foxy, to take the hat with him the next morning. The next morning Jose called me twice to make sure I knew that the hat was on its way. (I missed the first call which is why Jose called back.) When Foxy pulled up, the first thing he did was yell out my name with the hat in his hand. *smile* Again, I just wanted to thank Glaciers and Waterfalls for an awesome tour and awesome customer service. You really went out of your way to make sure something as seemingly insignificant as a hat was reunited with its owner. I am eternally grateful.

Hiking the glacier is the BEST! And so is Lorenzo! (Friday, August 14) We enjoyed all the tours we did on our 8 day trip, but the Sólheimajökull Glacier hike was hands down the most special of them all. It was just an unbelievable, spectacular experience. The weather was beautiful and sunny and perfect in every way which made the views during the hikes to and from the glacier, and especially on top of the glacier, amazing and jaw-dropping. This really helped make up for the bad weather we had on Eclipse day. I can’t eve describe how cool being on top of a glacier is. (no pun intended - but, yes, the temperature does drop quite a bit!) The ice formations are something to see. And you can drink the running water and fill up your bottles! The hike to and from the glacier is no joke. But it is totally doable for a beginner in decent shape. We did have a few members who opted to drop out at a couple of points because they felt the hike was too much for them. So be forewarned if you have mobility or health issues. At all times, our amazing guide Lorenzo was super attentive and went out of his way to make sure everyone was okay and accounted for. Lorenzo was a great tour guide over all and made the subsequent trips to the Black Sand Beach and Seljalandfoss waterfall very pleasant and memorable. Unfortunately we had to skip Skogafoss because we lost some time up on the glacier - but I consider that a good trade. Seriously. You MUST climb the glacier!
The eruption at Fagradalsfjall, Geldingadalir, is the sixth volcano eruption in Iceland in this century. So far, this is the smallest eruption known in Iceland but also by far the most popular. In part because of how close to the capital the volcano eruption is, located on the Reykjanes peninsula only about 40km (25mi) away.Read More
