Experience the extraordinary landscapes of Iceland’s South Coast on a full-day journey from Reykjavik to the spectacular world of glaciers and ice. Travel through rugged coastlines, volcanic landscapes, dramatic mountains, and some of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders.
The highlight of the adventure is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where enormous pieces of ice break away from the glacier and float through the lagoon towards the Atlantic Ocean. Watch blue and white icebergs drift across the water, with the glacier rising dramatically in the background. With a little luck, you may even spot seals swimming among the ice.
Just across the road lies Diamond Beach, where pieces of ice from the lagoon are carried out to sea before being washed back onto the black volcanic sand. The contrast between sparkling ice and dark sand creates one of Iceland’s most unforgettable landscapes — and an incredible place for photography.
You’ll also visit Fjallsárlón, a beautiful glacier lagoon surrounded by mountains and towering ice. Quieter and more intimate than Jökulsárlón, it offers another fascinating perspective on Iceland’s constantly changing glacial landscape.
Along the way, discover the dramatic South Coast, with a stop at Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s best-known waterfalls. When conditions allow, you can walk behind the cascading water for a unique perspective.
The journey also takes you through Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland’s southernmost village, surrounded by mountains, glaciers, volcanic landscapes, and black-sand beaches.
For an even closer encounter with the ice, you may have the option to join a boat ride on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, getting among the floating icebergs and experiencing the lagoon from the water. Boat tickets are optional and subject to availability and conditions.
This is a long day, but an unforgettable one — a journey from Reykjavik through Iceland’s spectacular South Coast to a landscape where glaciers, icebergs, black sand, and the Atlantic Ocean come together.

Great Golden Circle Tour The tour was great. Our guide, Sven was very knowledgeable and friendly. He even determined where we’d go next based on how many tourists were already at a particular location…part of the flexibility of traveling in a smaller tour group. Walking through the tectonic plates and waterfalls were incredible, Friðheimar Farm was amazing and wrapping it up at the Laugarás Lagoon was fantastic and relaxing. Would definitely recommend this tour.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The Golden Circle tour is worth your time and money All the stops on this Golden Circle tour were worth the time. The kids especially enjoyed the Laugarás Lagoon while the adults were very impressed with the Golden Waterfalls and the Tomato Farm.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Wonderful day trip! Our guide Einur (...sorry I'm not 100% on the spelling!) was fantastic! He was fun (and funny!), knowledgeable (as one would expect from a local), an excellent driver, and very helpful. Since there were only 6 of us in total on this trip, he gave us some tips on doing a little extra at some of the stops as we had a bit more time than if we'd been a larger group. He took some photos for us at the greenhouse, and I got to entertain him with explaining why someone from Hawaiʻi would get a degree in Scandinavian studies! The Laugarás Lagoon was amazing. The sodas they make there with herbs they pick locally are delicious. 10/10, would highly recommend to anyone, and would happily do it again some day!Posted on Google![]()

Einar was fantastic. The day tour was perfectly paced and finished at a wonderfully quiet lagoon. No Instagram influencers, no crowds posing for photos everywhere—just a peaceful experience. Loved the trip.Posted on Google![]()

Fun day Great trip, grab a friend or two and venture out to the trail. Had an option of a guided hike, or a walk on your own. Was more than enough time for a full circle around and a dip in the hot springs (or a picnic).Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Fantastic Tour and Guide Great tour and a fantastic guide (Einar Þór Samúelsson) was very knowledgeable and helpful, I highly recommend you check it out. Not only did we visit the areas advertised but we were also taken to some secret places very few have probably been. I would consider taking this tour againPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Kerid Crater & Geiser's in the Golden Circle You cannot miss either of these. The crater was beautiful. A trip thru the Golden Circle will leave you breathless. The waterfalls rival Niagara Falls. The geisers were fantastic.
We offer multiple pick up locations with less than a 10min walk from most accommodations.
Find out where they are.
Jökulsárlón is one of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders. The lagoon is filled with icebergs that have broken away from Breiðamerkurjökull and slowly make their way towards the Atlantic Ocean. Watch the ice drift across the deep blue water and keep an eye out for seals resting among the ice.
Just across from Jökulsárlón, Breiðamerkursandur — better known as Diamond Beach — offers a remarkable contrast of black volcanic sand and glistening pieces of glacier ice. The icebergs are carried out to sea before waves return them to the shore, creating ever-changing patterns along the beach.
Fjallsárlón is a beautiful glacier lagoon where floating icebergs gather beneath the towering Vatnajökull ice cap. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, this quieter lagoon offers a peaceful and spectacular view of Iceland’s glacial landscape.
Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, dropping from a former sea cliff into the landscape below. When conditions allow, you can walk behind the cascading water and experience this impressive waterfall from a unique perspective.
Vík is Iceland’s southernmost village and a popular stop along the South Coast. Surrounded by mountains, glaciers and black-sand beaches, it offers a glimpse into the dramatic landscapes and remote character of southern Iceland.
Iceland’s weather is famously unpredictable, and you can experience all four seasons in a single day. Be prepared for sudden changes, dress in layers, and carry waterproof gear as rain and wind are common. Check regional forecasts and make sure you bring the right clothes for an enjoyable visit.
Safety is our top priority. With this in mind, Glaciers and Waterfalls reserves the right to adapt the itinerary and explore alternative routes as needed based on prevailing conditions.
Travel insurance is highly recommended for your Iceland trip. It provides coverage for medical emergencies, trip interruptions, lost baggage, and adventure activities. It’s a wise safety net for peace of mind during your journey.
