Experience the extraordinary landscapes of Iceland’s South Coast on a full-day journey from Reykjavik to the spectacular world of glaciers and ice. Travel through rugged coastlines, volcanic landscapes, dramatic mountains, and some of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders.
The highlight of the adventure is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where enormous pieces of ice break away from the glacier and float through the lagoon towards the Atlantic Ocean. Watch blue and white icebergs drift across the water, with the glacier rising dramatically in the background. With a little luck, you may even spot seals swimming among the ice.
Just across the road lies Diamond Beach, where pieces of ice from the lagoon are carried out to sea before being washed back onto the black volcanic sand. The contrast between sparkling ice and dark sand creates one of Iceland’s most unforgettable landscapes — and an incredible place for photography.
You’ll also visit Fjallsárlón, a beautiful glacier lagoon surrounded by mountains and towering ice. Quieter and more intimate than Jökulsárlón, it offers another fascinating perspective on Iceland’s constantly changing glacial landscape.
Along the way, discover the dramatic South Coast, with a stop at Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s best-known waterfalls. When conditions allow, you can walk behind the cascading water for a unique perspective.
The journey also takes you through Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland’s southernmost village, surrounded by mountains, glaciers, volcanic landscapes, and black-sand beaches.
For an even closer encounter with the ice, you may have the option to join a boat ride on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, getting among the floating icebergs and experiencing the lagoon from the water. Boat tickets are optional and subject to availability and conditions.
This is a long day, but an unforgettable one — a journey from Reykjavik through Iceland’s spectacular South Coast to a landscape where glaciers, icebergs, black sand, and the Atlantic Ocean come together.

Jökulsárlón is one of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders. The lagoon is filled with icebergs that have broken away from Breiðamerkurjökull and slowly make their way towards the Atlantic Ocean. Watch the ice drift across the deep blue water and keep an eye out for seals resting among the ice.
Just across from Jökulsárlón, Breiðamerkursandur — better known as Diamond Beach — offers a remarkable contrast of black volcanic sand and glistening pieces of glacier ice. The icebergs are carried out to sea before waves return them to the shore, creating ever-changing patterns along the beach.
Fjallsárlón is a beautiful glacier lagoon where floating icebergs gather beneath the towering Vatnajökull ice cap. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, this quieter lagoon offers a peaceful and spectacular view of Iceland’s glacial landscape.
Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, dropping from a former sea cliff into the landscape below. When conditions allow, you can walk behind the cascading water and experience this impressive waterfall from a unique perspective.
Vík is Iceland’s southernmost village and a popular stop along the South Coast. Surrounded by mountains, glaciers and black-sand beaches, it offers a glimpse into the dramatic landscapes and remote character of southern Iceland.
