Experience the Golden Circle your way on a private day tour from Reykjavik

  • Þingvellir National Park — Explore Icelandic history and the meeting point of two continents.
  • Geysir Geothermal Area — Watch Strokkur erupt among steaming hot springs and bubbling geothermal features.
  • Gullfoss Waterfall — Experience the raw power of Iceland’s spectacular Golden Waterfall.
  • Friðheimar Tomato Farm — Enjoy a unique lunch surrounded by tomato plants inside a working greenhouse.
  • Choose your geothermal experience — Add Secret Lagoon, Hvammsvík, or Laugarás Lagoon to your private tour.
  • Your day, your choice — Skip the lagoon and enjoy more time exploring Iceland if you prefer.

Discover Iceland’s most famous natural wonders while enjoying the flexibility of a private tour. Visit Þingvellir National Park, the geothermal wonders of Geysir, the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, and the unique Friðheimar tomato greenhouse — then choose whether you want to finish your day with a relaxing geothermal soak.

Your journey takes you to Þingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s geological and political history come together. Walk through the dramatic landscape between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and learn about the Alþingi, established here in AD 930.

At the Geysir geothermal area, explore a landscape of steaming vents, bubbling hot springs, and colourful mineral deposits. Watch Strokkur erupt every few minutes as boiling water shoots high into the air — one of Iceland’s most spectacular natural displays.

Continue to Gullfoss, the mighty “Golden Waterfall,” where the Hvítá river plunges in two dramatic stages into a rugged canyon. Take in the powerful waterfall, surrounding landscapes, and, when visibility allows, views towards the mountains and Langjökull glacier.

A special part of this private experience is a visit to Friðheimar, a family-run tomato farm and greenhouse restaurant. Step inside the warm greenhouse and enjoy lunch surrounded by tomato plants growing year-round using Iceland’s geothermal energy. Their famous tomato soup, served with freshly baked bread and traditional accompaniments, is a highlight — while other tomato-based dishes are also available.

After exploring the Golden Circle, you can choose how to end your day. Relax in the historic Secret Lagoon, soak in the natural surroundings of Hvammsvík Hot Springs, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Laugarás Lagoon, or skip the lagoon altogether and spend more time exploring Iceland.

Because this is a private tour, your guide can adapt the day to the weather, road conditions, your interests, and the pace you prefer.

The Geyser areaGeothermal Area

Walk among steaming vents, bubbling hot springs, and colourful geothermal features at the famous Geysir area. The highlight is Strokkur, which regularly erupts and sends a powerful column of boiling water into the air.

GullfossThe Golden Waterfall

Witness the impressive Gullfoss as the Hvítá river plunges through a rugged canyon in two dramatic stages. The waterfall’s power and surrounding landscapes make it one of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders.

FriðheimarTomato Farm

Enjoy a unique lunch experience inside a working greenhouse at Friðheimar, where tomatoes grow all year round despite Iceland’s long, dark winters. Sit among the tomato plants and enjoy the famous tomato soup with freshly baked bread and accompaniments, or choose from other tomato-based dishes.

Secret LagoonOptional

Relax in the natural geothermal waters of Secret Lagoon, Iceland’s oldest swimming pool. The warm water is naturally supplied by surrounding hot springs and stays around 38–40°C year-round. Steam rising from the geothermal landscape and the nearby Litli Geysir add to the atmosphere.

Hvammsvík Hot SpringsOptional

Soak in the natural hot springs of Hvammsvík, set directly beside the Atlantic Ocean. With several pools of different temperatures blending into the shoreline, this is a unique combination of geothermal water, sea, mountains, and Icelandic nature.

FAQ

Is a lagoon included in the tour?

No. The tour has a base price, and you choose whether to add a geothermal lagoon. You can choose Secret Lagoon, Hvammsvík, Laugarás Lagoon — or skip bathing altogether.

Can we choose which lagoon we visit?

Yes. That’s one of the advantages of making this a private experience. You can choose the lagoon that best suits your interests.

Can we do the tour without visiting a lagoon?

Absolutely. If you would rather spend more time sightseeing, simply do not choose any Lagoon option.

Is lunch at Friðheimar included?

No. Friðheimar is included as a stop, but lunch is not included in the tour price. You can choose from the restaurant’s menu, including their famous tomato soup with freshly baked bread and accompaniments.

Can we change the order of the stops?

Yes. There is no fixed order. Your guide may adjust the itinerary according to weather, road conditions, opening hours, and what makes the most sense for your private group that day.

Is this a private tour?

Yes, this is a private tour with private transportation and a dedicated guide. Your group does not share the vehicle with other guests.

What is the weather going to be like?

In Iceland, there is no guarantee of the same kind of weather will be the whole day, even though there is beautiful morning during the pick-up in Reykjavík. Keep in mind that the weather can change very suddenly and you might just experience all four seasons in one day. So be well-prepared and bring plenty of layers.

What should I wear?

Iceland is known for colourful weather and even in our short hike we could experience all 4 seasons.

It is a bit of a challenge to dress up for this sort of weather. We always recommend dressing in layers. 3 upper layers are highly recommended such as a light t-shirt (preferably wool) next to the skin, then a fleece or heavy wool garment, topped off with a waterproof windbreaker.

Lightweight hiking pants, track pants or long cotton pants are best and then wind/waterproof pants over. Jeans are not recommended for hiking as they become very heavy, cold and uncomfortable to wear when they get wet.

Sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended although good sneakers are good enough for this rather comfortable and short hike.

Is there a stop for food?

There is food at almost every stop on this trip and at Geysir we will have time for lunch.

Do I need some insurance before going on this trip?

Travel insurance is always a good idea. We recommend that you have personal health insurance coverage when participating in any adventure activities in Iceland, as you would when travelling anywhere in the world.
