Experience the spectacular beauty of Iceland’s South Coast on a private day tour from Reykjavik, designed around you.
From powerful waterfalls and hidden canyons to volcanic landscapes, glaciers and the dramatic black sands of Reynisfjara, the South Coast brings together some of Iceland’s most remarkable natural wonders in one extraordinary journey.
With a private vehicle and experienced guide, you can enjoy the freedom to spend more time at the places that interest you most, while your guide adapts the day to the weather, road conditions and the pace of your group.
Your journey may include some of the South Coast’s most iconic waterfalls, including Seljalandsfoss, where conditions may allow you to walk behind the cascading water, and Gljúfrabúi, a hidden waterfall tucked inside a narrow canyon.
You’ll also have the opportunity to experience Skógafoss, where enormous volumes of glacial water plunge 60 metres over the cliffs. The spray often catches the sunlight, creating spectacular rainbows around the falls.
Along the way, you’ll see Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. Rather than simply viewing the glacier from a distance, your guide can take you to a scenic viewpoint where you can appreciate the ice, mountains and constantly changing landscape up close.
Further east, discover Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland’s southernmost village, surrounded by mountains, volcanic landscapes and black-sand coastlines.
The journey continues to Reynisfjara, one of Iceland’s most dramatic coastal landscapes. Walk across the volcanic black sand, admire the towering basalt columns and look out towards the famous Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the Atlantic Ocean.
Your guide will also explain the powerful waves of Reynisfjara and how to enjoy this beautiful coastline safely.
Because this is a private experience, the day does not have to follow a rigid schedule. The order of stops can change, and your guide may adjust the route depending on weather, road conditions, available time and what will make the day most enjoyable for your group.
Whether you want to spend more time photographing waterfalls, explore the coastline, learn about Iceland’s geology, discover hidden corners or simply take in the scenery without rushing, your guide will help shape the experience around you.
This is the South Coast without the rush — a private journey through some of Iceland’s most spectacular landscapes, with the freedom to experience it your way.

Great Golden Circle Tour The tour was great. Our guide, Sven was very knowledgeable and friendly. He even determined where we’d go next based on how many tourists were already at a particular location…part of the flexibility of traveling in a smaller tour group. Walking through the tectonic plates and waterfalls were incredible, Friðheimar Farm was amazing and wrapping it up at the Laugarás Lagoon was fantastic and relaxing. Would definitely recommend this tour.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The Golden Circle tour is worth your time and money All the stops on this Golden Circle tour were worth the time. The kids especially enjoyed the Laugarás Lagoon while the adults were very impressed with the Golden Waterfalls and the Tomato Farm.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Wonderful day trip! Our guide Einur (...sorry I'm not 100% on the spelling!) was fantastic! He was fun (and funny!), knowledgeable (as one would expect from a local), an excellent driver, and very helpful. Since there were only 6 of us in total on this trip, he gave us some tips on doing a little extra at some of the stops as we had a bit more time than if we'd been a larger group. He took some photos for us at the greenhouse, and I got to entertain him with explaining why someone from Hawaiʻi would get a degree in Scandinavian studies! The Laugarás Lagoon was amazing. The sodas they make there with herbs they pick locally are delicious. 10/10, would highly recommend to anyone, and would happily do it again some day!Posted on Google![]()

Fun day Great trip, grab a friend or two and venture out to the trail. Had an option of a guided hike, or a walk on your own. Was more than enough time for a full circle around and a dip in the hot springs (or a picnic).Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Fantastic Tour and Guide Great tour and a fantastic guide (Einar Þór Samúelsson) was very knowledgeable and helpful, I highly recommend you check it out. Not only did we visit the areas advertised but we were also taken to some secret places very few have probably been. I would consider taking this tour againPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Kerid Crater & Geiser's in the Golden Circle You cannot miss either of these. The crater was beautiful. A trip thru the Golden Circle will leave you breathless. The waterfalls rival Niagara Falls. The geisers were fantastic.
We offer multiple pick up locations with less than a 10min walk from most accommodations.
Find out where they are.
Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland’s classic waterfalls, with a unique twist. When conditions allow, you can walk behind the cascading water and experience the waterfall from a completely different perspective. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and beautiful scenery, it’s a memorable stop on Iceland’s South Coast.
Hidden inside a narrow canyon near Seljalandsfoss, Gljúfrabúi feels like a secret tucked into the landscape. Depending on weather and conditions, you can walk into the canyon and get close to the falling water, surrounded by towering rock walls.
Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls, with powerful glacial water plunging 60 metres over the cliffs. On sunny days, the spray often creates beautiful rainbows, adding an extra touch of magic to this spectacular natural landmark.
Take a short walk to a scenic viewpoint overlooking Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. From here, you can admire the glacier and surrounding mountains while your guide shares stories and insights about Iceland’s glaciers and the forces that continue to shape this ever-changing landscape.
Vík is Iceland’s southernmost village and a charming stop surrounded by dramatic mountains, volcanic landscapes, and black-sand coastlines. Take a moment to enjoy the views and get a glimpse of life in this small but lively South Coast community.
Reynisfjara is one of Iceland’s most dramatic coastal landscapes, where black volcanic sand meets the powerful Atlantic Ocean. Explore the towering basalt columns and cliffs, and look out towards the famous Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the ocean. Your guide will also explain the powerful waves and how to enjoy this beautiful beach safely.
The order of stops is not fixed. Your guide will consider weather, road conditions, available time and your group’s interests when planning the day.
As a private tour, there is also more flexibility to spend additional time at places you particularly enjoy or adjust the route when conditions suggest another option would make for a better experience.
Iceland’s weather is famously unpredictable, and you can experience all four seasons in a single day. Be prepared for sudden changes, dress in layers, and carry waterproof gear as rain and wind are common. Check regional forecasts and make sure you bring the right clothes for an enjoyable visit.
There is plenty of food stops on this trip. About 1.5 hour from Reykjavík, we’ll make a quick pit stop at Hvolsvöllur. It’s a chance to grab some on-the-go food. At the mesmerizing Seljalandsfoss waterfall, you can enjoy coffee and pastries and at the Black Sand Beach you’ll have time for a leisurely lunch.
Safety is our top priority. With this in mind, Glaciers and Waterfalls reserves the right to adapt the itinerary and explore alternative routes as needed based on prevailing conditions.
Travel insurance is highly recommended for your Iceland trip. It provides coverage for medical emergencies, trip interruptions, lost baggage, and adventure activities. It’s a wise safety net for peace of mind during your journey.
