Information in regards of COVID-19

Taking into consideration the spread of COVID-19 we at GN’W are doing everything we can to minimize the risk of infection on our tours, following the guidelines of our health authorities, so that you can enjoy your adventure with an ease of mind.

With this in mind, we have reviewed our tour operations with safety of our guests and employees. Below is what we are doing, and require you to do, to maintain yours and our guides safety:

This is what we are doing

  • No handshakes! Sorry! Limiting physical contact is an easy and effective way to minimise the risk of infection.
  • Maintain a 2 meter distance between you and others. At times this may not be possible, for instance at restaurants, within the bus and on glacier hikes. Where you cannot maintain 2 metres distance you will need to wear a mask.

  • We require you to comply with the requirement of wearing a mask when it is unavoidable to be within 2 metres of people from a different household. Please bring mask(s) if you have them, if not we will provide masks.

  • We have reduced group sizes to try and space guests out over the bus. We kindly ask clients to enter and exit the vehicle in a controlled manner in order to avoid passing others too often, and sitting spread out over the bus. At times on the bus it may be necessary to wear a mask where you cannot maintain 2 metres distance. Please use the same seats all day. Families and people who live in close proximity (couples for example) are fine to sit together within 1 metre and without a mask, if they are more than 1 metre from people from another household.

  • We have placed sanitising stations by the entrance of the vehicle and we please ask that you sanitise your hands when entering and leaving the vehicle as well as practicing hand washing when possible throughout the day

  • Helmets, glacier crampons, ice axes and other safety equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each use according to manufacturer’s technical notes

  • All shared contact surfaces in the vehicle are cleaned with disinfectant after each tour as well as during the day.

This is what you should do

  • Keep at least 1 metre distance from others at all times possible. If this is not possible please wear a mask.
  • Bring a mask to wear. If you do not have a mask we can provide you with a mask.

  • When going on a glacier hike or other activities that require you to wear a helmet, wear a buff or a beanie underneath. We do clean them well, but an extra layer helps minimise contact

  • Wearing gloves minimises your risk of infection when touching common surfaces throughout the day

  • Wash your hands with soap and water, and use a disinfectant frequently. A disinfectant sanitiser is available in each vehicle at the entrance

  • Avoid shaking hands, hugs, and kisses. Smiles and waving are the trends of the year

  • If you need to sneeze or cough, try to do it into your elbow or in a napkin

  • Follow common guidelines for sanitation and measures to reduce spread of COVID-19 (WHOCDCUK NHS)
